My Favorite Books

I like these books so much I just had to take a picture of them. Notice that there are some with color and some have a simple gilded elegance. As you can see my love of pansies just had to sneak into my pictures!

Wait a minute - these are not books! *lol*

These are my Book Purses! I saw one on a tv program and the challenge was on. I just had to make one and I have had made several since. I had made one for my friend, Cindi, and you can view it at her blog -

A little story about Cindi's purse - At Ruth's Room, Cindi's aunt and sister also volunteer there and they all have been "simplifying" their homes and donations show up at Ruth's Room from them. Well, this pretty little book just caught my eye and I took it home with me. I read the book which was totally a darling and fun book to read. Inside the back cover was their grandmother's name and address. I thought I could give the book back to Cindi and it could just sit on a shelf and collect dust or turn it into something she could use and take the sentimental value with her where ever she goes. I made it into the purse. I kept the insides and made a new simple cover, to keep the book. It turned out so cute!

These five book purses are going to the Apple Harvest Festival to be sold at my and Cindi's booth on October 3 here in Fortuna.

Let me introduce you to them. Each one has their own uniqueness and a definite one-of-a-kind.

The first one with the round handles and white in color is " Seven Days In May". It is made from a older Reader's Digest book with a decorative cover. The inside is white with tiny red flowers scattered throughout with a small side pocket trimmed in red ribbon. It has metal ring handles, elasticized gussets and a matching coin purse.

The next one to it is "Green Darkness" and the picture DOES NOT do this one justice. This book purse is total elegance. It is totally lined in dark green velvet with a faux pearl closure button with green and black crystal beading on the closure loop. And black handles and silver purse feet.

Number Three is the other black book purse pictured alone - "Reluctant Suitor" has a dark blues and greens flower print lining with a metal clasp and a small drawstring coin purse. The decorative flower is made from the same lining material and is detachable.

"Good-Bye My Lady" is the book #4 - this one is a personal favorite- an eclectic shabby chic style. The cover is a pastel pink harlequin print with gold star accents with a burgundy binding. The lining is a small pink stripe and pink flowers material with a small pocket on the side. The closure loops over a big pink faux diamond button set on a black patch of velvet with an accent of pink velvet ribbon with pink flower buttons on it. This one has a matching coin purse with flower button accent on the zipper. The handles are black and long with a twist.

Book Number #5 - "To Catch An Angel" is very unique. The lining is a black velvet and the outside binding is velvet trimmed in a green braid. A basket broach with red and white rhinestone flowers turned clasp accents the design on the book cover. It has a black wooden handles and a small black velvet drawstring coin bag topped off with a glass ladybug bead.
Thank you for taking the time to preview my book purses. If there is a purse that has caught your attention, remember these are for sale. The prices for these purses are $30 each plus the cost of shipping. I will use USPS Priority flat rate shipping and I can accept PayPal. Any additional infomation about any of the book purses are welcomed -
And I truly would love any comments! Have a Blessed Day!

Tuesday - Ruth's Room

About 2 1/2 years ago I had started a ministry in our church. It is a place for people to get clothing, shoes and everthing else they may need, even a little bit of house wares. All the items are offered at no cost to those who come and there isn't any income qualifications.

Ruth's Room is set up somewhat like a store taking up two rooms in our downstairs area connected by a hallway. Most of our donations comes from an Eureka business, Lots 4 Tots Plus The Clothing Closet, which is a win-win situation for both us . I have a wonderful group of volunteers, LOVE YA ALL, sort out the clothing and other items. We hang them up and then they are placed on clothing racks that are departmentalized. Our "customers" come in and get a bag and go shopping. They look for what can fit them or those in their family and then they take it off the hanger, leaving the hanger on the rack and putting the item in their bag.

That is where I go every Tuesday - except this morning I have a meeting to attend at one of my children's school. Afterwards I will go down there and help them finish off the day. Also every Tuesday around 9:50 a.m. (Pacific time) we gather and pray before we open. If you are of the praying type, please remember us at that time.

Duplication

I finished up my baby shower card last night and my give away card! The give away card would be great for birthdays (girl or lady), thank you, sweetheart/love, wedding, bridal shower, just because or a baby shower!

I also needed a birthday card for my mother-in-law. So while Garry, my hubby, watched some old classic comedies on his lap top, I made up a 2 birthday cards. One to give and one for stockpile.

Never Forget - I Never Will

Never Forget that there are those who want to do harm to us in America and NEVER forget those who Protect the United States of America and our Freedoms!

God Bless the United States of America and its Soldiers!!!

Thank you for reading my first post!!! I am excited to share with you all some of my craft experience mixed in with everyday life stuff all with love!!! Every Friday, I have some wonderful friends who come over and we scrapbook - there is Kim ~ who has been my bestest friend for over 16 years ~ she is working on a very neat idea for remembering birthdays, anniversaries and other important events using a rolodex file system. Next is Ammi, who I have known for a while, however over this summer we have been becoming closer friends. She is an amazing scrapbooker and can whip out some really magazine quality pages. And there is my baby sister, June (who does like this title and uses it to her advantage any time she can!), since she has become a Close To My Heart Consultant all of us have been really crafting up a storm. June does a little bit of everything from scrapbook pages and making cards, to decorating frosting cans. They are so cute.

We all sit around the dining room table and we share most anything - paper, markers, stamps and most of all Advice. Since this is our third Friday, I look forward to sharing with my friends some good 'ol laughter.

Here is my are work area and the project I am working on- which is a baby shower card for a relative. As you can see I am making 2. I have decided that when I am making a card and when it is possible to make 2 at a time instead of just one. It kind of makes sense because it really isn't that more effort to double up and chances are I will need another card quickly in the future and I will have a little stock pile to choose from. But on this occassion I want to give my second card away and it doesn't have to be for a baby shower. In fact when I come to the sentiments I will leave it blank for you to personalize or I can do it for you.

How to win this wonderful card.............

From now until next Friday, September 18 at noon - for every comment posted your name will be put into a drawing.... And You Can Be A Winner!
