ReButtoned Flower Tutorial

Welcome to my first ever tutorial!
My friend, Cindi, and I came across a bunch of badge buttons that were popular some time ago.  This bunch were mostly promotion type that were of no particular interest to anyone.  She suggested that we take some faux flowers and make a neat hybrid type flower broach.
So to the workshop we went and this is my creation.

The equipment needed are: scissors, pencil or pen, wire snips, hot glue gun and extra glue sticks.

Materials needed are: faux flowers, felt, badge button

Trace the button onto the felt.  The felt will be your base so that the hot glue will stick better to the felt and it will look nicer.

Cut out the circle....

Using the hot glue gun, adhere the felt to the badge button making sure to get full coverage...

....and it will look like this.
*i heart my nails! thanks tabatha of top coat!*

This was a cluster of flowers, sort of like a Hydranga, with glitter on the edges.  I removed the clusters and cut each section apart so that I had single petals. Depending on the flower you are using you will need to make some judgement calls on this step. DO NOT GLUE PETALS YET!

Because you will need to glue on some leaves for accent.
These particular leaves are a long holly type with a solid coating of microbeads. I placed my leaves so that just a little bit of the leaf will peak out behind the flower.

With the single petals, starting on the outer edge, glue a petal so that the wide end
of the petal is over the edge a little bit, covering the felt.

This is one round of petals.  Continue until you get the fullness you want,
over lapping the next row of petals over the last.

I was able to get three layers.

Glue in your center.  Here I used a microbeaded berry from the same holly bush.

Lastly, pin your new flower fashion broach onto your lapel and enjoy!
